This is a view of the whole pond in the early years before the landscaping filled in. It is difficult to get it all in one picture.
Zone 9
Volume- 20,000 gallons
Liner- Firestone PondGuard 45 mil. EPDM 25'x70'
Filters- 4' x 4' x 16' tank behind waterfall, 6' round stock tank (wishing well), upflow, 4" lava rock bed covered with blue filter mats, 2 settling tanks.
My first filters were food grade barrels with lava rock. They were fine for the first year, but not practical for a large pond and too hard to clean.
Pump #1- draws from under bridge to pump, then to waterwheel & wishing well. Remaining water goes through a settling tank before entering the main filter, exiting over the waterfall.
Pump #2- draws from another settling tank which pulls water from the end near the waterfall.
Pump #3- submersible, supplies abt. 500 gph to the three Veggie bogs.
Skimmer- under the bridge. I used an above ground pool skimmer.
